In anticipation of Mother's Day, The Folk Tree Collection presents BEDAZZLED II: Contemporary Jewelry Design, an exhibition featuring the work of approximately
thirty-five artists with an emphasis on unique styles, materials and techniques. The dates of the show are April 24 - May 22, 2004, with a reception on Saturday, April 24, from 2 - 6 P.M.

From cast to fabricated, carved to beaded, the pieces on display show the broad range of possibilities in contemporary jewelry. Most of the artists represented are from California, among them: Joanna Craft (recycled objects/silver); Amy Faust (sea glass/silver/gold); Bill Gallagher (hand-cut gemstones/silver); Sarah Jane Hassler (acrylic/silver); Mylene Millon-Clark (polymer clay/silver); Annette Paskiewicz (fused glass/silver); Mark Poulin (enamel/silver); Quique Diaz (carved wood and bone inspired by traditional Maori designs); and Kristen Willet (seed beads). Many of the jewelers included have participated in fine crafts exhibitions throughout the country.

Among the more unusual designs are those by Paige Howorth, an entomologist at the San Diego Zoo, who was inspired by her professional experiences to incorporate the beauty of the insect world into elegant pendants and earrings, using either actual beetle wings, heads and mandibles or casting these forms in sterling silver. Jennifer Morris creates unique beads from polymer clay and embellishes them with vintage rhinestones. Rone Prinz's creations incorporate carved ebony and mule antler. Nikolai Tsang learned to carve jade from her father and contributes elegant floral designs with fiber knotting.

Works range in price from around $50. to approximately $500.
