| Rocky Behr is the owner
of The Folk Tree & Folk Tree Tours. She is an avid traveler,
who has crossed the world in search of folk art and artifacts, and has
led two annual tours for more than twenty years to Mexico – one
to Oaxaca to meet many of the talented artisans of the area, the other
to Michoacan to participate in the traditions associated with the Day
of the Dead holiday. She became fascinated with India while on a
theatre tour in London, where she also attended the “Year of India”
celebration. Her passion has long been to experience the art and
history of various cultures. Scholarly expertise for the trip comes from co-leader Ed Rothfarb, an Indian art historian and artist. Ed has degrees in fine art and art history, the former from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (BFA) and the latter from University of California, Los Angeles (MA and PhD). He first went to India in 1993 as a visual artist on a seven-month grant from the Indo-American Fellowship Program, during which time he traveled throughout the country and was also in residence at the Sanskriti Kendra art colony in New Delhi. Since then he has returned to India many times wearing the hats of artist and art historian. He is the author of “In the Land of the Taj Mahal “ (Henry Holt, 1997), and his forthcoming book “The Architeture of Raja Bir Singh Dev Bundela: Continuity, Adaptation and Invention” will be published by Marg Publications in 2012. Rothfarb has taught at California State Univeristy, Long Beach, UCLA, the Rhode Island School of Design, and Massachusetts College of Art. The tour price per person land cost (double accommodation) is $6800. The single supplement is $2160. The travel agency Realms has also designed an add-on tour to Agra (Taj Mahal) and the centuries old palace city of Fatehpur Sikri.
