During the 2005 holiday season, The Folk Tree Collection continues its tradition of presenting ORNAMENTS & ADORNMENTS, an exhibition featuring handmade ornaments, jewelry, and unique gift items in various media including glass, wood, ceramics, gourds, found objects and more. This eclectic display highlights work by local artists as well as by artisans from around the world. The show runs from Saturday, November 19 - Friday, December 31, 2005. A holiday open house is scheduled for Saturday, November 19, from 2 - 6 P.M.

The show's contents complement The Folk Tree Collection's other offerings of unusual objects from here and abroad. Among these are many Asian inspired pieces, including furnishings, ceramics, jewelry, and textiles. Items from Africa and the Americas, such as wood sculpture, baskets, and copper vessels, are also available.

ORNAMENTS & ADORNMENTS XIV features a large selection of unique ornaments by approximately twenty-five artists. Among the holiday embellishments are: stars, hearts, and bikinis and dresses on hangers made of recycled tin by Carmen Abelleira; paper mache angels by Ulla Anobile; wood-burned and painted gourd Santas and snowmen by Melissa Brown; painted ceramic chairs by Johanna Hansen; silver and bronze angels by Susan Kushins; angels made from Hawaiian flowers by Luka Lyman; embroidered stars by Cindy Rinne; and turned wood by Damon Siples. Large mixed medida angels made by Donna Musser and wreaths created with millinery by Lynda Pyka are also on view.

Personal adornment in the form of jewelry is another focus of the show. Included is the bold beading of Marguerite Cummings, fabricated silver by Diane Nishimoto and Holly Rittenhouse, pieces designed around vintage buttons by Jody Lyons, the elegant pendants and earrings of Juan Sigala, which incorporate beautiful faceted semi-precious gemstones, and the cast and fabricated work of Eric Silva. Approximately eighteen jewelers are included in this installation.

There are also plentiful handcrafted gift items, including wood jewelry boxes by George Carvin, exquisite turned wood tops and scent bottles by Jon Sauer, blown glass bowls by Bryan Goldenberg, functional ceramics by Shirley Liff-Grieff, and fused glass by Lucia Yang. The variety of objects on view offers numerous gift opportunities and decorations for the home during this festive season.
